Player Races
You can choose from the following races:
HUMAN
Humans are the standard race on Dragon's Den. They are unique in the
fact that they are pretty good at everything. Humans suffer no penalties,
and gain no bonuses for anything. A character trait of Den's humans is
their resourcefulness and innate ability to adapt quickly to almost any
circumstance, and therefore gain physical skills and experience faster
than
any other race.
DWARF
Dwarves are short, stocky demi-humans about four feet tall. They weigh
about
one hundred and fifty pounds on average, and have earth-colored skin, long
dark hair and highly groomed beards. Stubborn but practical, dwarves love
hearty meals and strong drink. They value good craftsmanship, and are very
fond of gold. Dwarves are sturdy fighters with a strong constitution. They
enjoy a good fight, favoring blunt weapons such as hammers as well as
axes.
Dwarves are also hardy and resistant to most toxins.
ELF
Elves are slender, graceful, demi-humans with delicate features and
slightly
pointed ears. They are five to five and a half feet tall and weigh an
average
of one hundred and twenty pounds. They are dangerous opponents, but
prefer to
spend their time feasting and frolicking in woodland glades. They rarely
visit
the cities of humans on the Den. Elves are fascinated by magic and never
grow
tired collecting magic items, especially if the items are beautifully
crafted.
They are fond of longswords and bows and learn the use of those faster
than
normal. Elves aren't as sturdy as humans, and gain constitution at a
slower
rate. However, they also are quicker and receive a bonus in dexterity
advancement.
FAERIE
Faeries are small humanoid woodland creatures. They tend to be very small
and
are attuned to nature at a high level. Because of their size, they
advance in
dexterity twice as fast as humans, but also only gain strength and
constitution
at half the normal rate. Opponents will find that their quickness makes it
extremely difficult to land a good blow on them. Faeries are quite
proficient
with knives, and can learn the use of those weapons at an alarming rate.
They
are particularly impotent at unarmed combat due to their physical makeup.
Faeries can fly.
GNOME
Gnomes are a human-like race related to dwarves. They are smaller than
dwarves, and have long noses and full beards present on both genders.
Gnomes
have developed heat-sensing sight and can see in the dark. They usually
live
in burrows in the lowlands of the Den. Gnomes are excellent metalsmiths
and
miners. They love gold and gems and have been known to make bad decisions
just
to obtain them.
HALFLING
Halflings are small, good-natured demi-humans averaging only three feet in
height and weighing about sixty pounds. They are outgoing but not
unusually
brave, seeking treasure as a way of gaining the comforts of home which
they so
dearly love. Halflings can see in the infra-red spectrum and gain
dexterity
faster than normal. They are also extremely agile and surefooted.
